Graphic Novel Submissions

Black Panel Press is now accepting graphic novels, fiction, and narrative nonfiction.

Black Panel Press is primarily a graphic novel publisher, but we are now also open to other types of books — especially literary fiction, genre fiction with a strong point of view, and narrative nonfiction.

We’re looking for bold, distinctive work that feels personal, original, and difficult to ignore. If your book is strange, beautiful, political, funny, unsettling, visually ambitious, or hard to place elsewhere, we’d like to see it.

We’ve been publishing since 2017 and distribute our books worldwide. We take pride in offering fair royalties while allowing creators to maintain ownership of their copyright.

Although we do our best to review every submission, due to the volume we receive, we may be unable to answer every one.

A few general guidelines:

  • We are primarily a graphic novel publisher, but we are also accepting submissions for fiction and narrative nonfiction.
  • We do not publish superhero stories, conventional commercial genre fiction, or work that relies mainly on familiar genre formulas.
  • For graphic novels, we primarily publish works of 60+ pages, but are also open to shorter comics and single-issue projects.
  • For comics and graphic novels, we do not coordinate projects between writers and illustrators. Your team should already be assembled before submitting.
  • For illustrated projects, your submission should include at least ten illustrated pages, preferably in color if applicable.
  • Completed works will have preference over partially completed ones.
  • We will consider works in any language, but preference will be given to works available in English, French, or Portuguese.
  • Sorry, we do not accept mailed submissions due to the editor’s tiny apartment that’s already full of comics. Mailed submissions will be discarded.
  • Please provide the complete work in PDF format if available.
  • Please ensure the file is accessible and the link does not expire.
